The hard work is over! Let the fun begin. By the grace of God we have made it. The journey to
our 40th reunion celebration week officially started in March of 2018. However, Arlene Tyson started to
plant the seed approximately six months to a year prior to having the first meeting on March
8th. When the first group of classmates met, we started from
scratch, took Arlene’s dream, created a vision, established a
plan of action and we ran with it. The journey was fast-pace
Nevertheless, we were a relentless group of people who pushed, to meet each goal. As a result, we are
awarding $10,000 in scholarships. The four students will be
awarded $2,500 each. The class also gave a sound system to the school valuing over $5,000. 79ers, we all have worked hard. However, special thanks to Evelyn Pena for her tireless work and gong-ho spirit. Special appreciation to Vernamae Daward, for taking on the arduous task of keep our finances in order.
Additionally, each chairperson has done an excellent job of making sure their team remained focus. The Executive / Leadership team, which is made up of over twenty people from all over the U.S.A and the Virgin Islands did an awesome job of making sure we operated with excellence and their oversite has been commendable. The sacrifice they have made to participate in the long meetings via conference call is appreciated. Thanks to all who participated in the newsletters and worked on projects behind the scenes to make sure everything is in order.
Lastly, let us remember the sense of support and care we have found in the new relationships we have forged with classmates. May God continue bless the unstoppable class of 1979.
