There is so much more to fundraising than just making money. Fundraising is about building relationships, building your event planning skills and helping to bring a cause to light. Spending time with classmates you haven’t seen or worked with in forty years can be a fun process as well as daunting, one depending on the players. Getting to know others and seeing individual faces light up when they recognize other classmates is special. Having a good solid team to work with that supports each other goes a long way. Bringing awareness to special ventures such as The Legacy Project for St. Croix Central High School can be profound. Once the community understands our purpose and buys into the process they will nurture and help us to accomplish our goals. We are well on our way and that is why we have repeat donors. They are the people who request that we have certain cakes or ask us to please have another soup sale. As well as they are the ones who comes and just gives us cash because they appreciate what we’re doing. Not to mention those who states “Ayo had want to make me eat that container the soup was in. That Chicken Soup was soooo good.” “Not everybody can cook for a Vegan. I am so mad I didn’t buy two bowls. Please let me know when you all have another one.” “That cake had in all the right amount of everything. Just let me know when ayo doing it again.”

To all our classmates on St Croix who shows up and works so hard at all of our events, our success will not be possible without you. To everyone who goes in their pocket and give to our class you are all just amazing. To our Miami team – WOW! Thank you so much for all that you’re doing.   Thank you, Gracias, Merci, Grazie, Arigato or ありがとう,  do jeh, daw-dyeh, Danke sehr, Khop Khun Mak Kha. You are the leaders of the pack and setting the pace for others to follow. I am sure soon our other groups in other cities will be making their moves. Great start.

Let us all strive to provide an atmosphere that will bring us together and leave nothing to chance. Instead let our efforts propel us to engage and impact our community so that we can look back and say we did that! Fundraising is about so much more than just raising monies.
