Meet and Greets “We always end up celebrating”
By Evelyn Pena-Felix
I have discovered that many classmates have a very busy life. Getting together sometimes is just hard, almost impossible. Many might never make a meet and greet event. But we continue to plan and schedule Meet and Greets in hopes that everyone can separate that date and come and get together to strategize and plan our next move towards having a successful 40th Anniversary Reunion.
In the previous meets and greets, we have been pleasantly surprised at the excitement and commitment we are getting from all the ‘79ers that attend. We always end up celebrating, just having a plain old wonderful time. Reconnecting and discovering what our classmates have been up to is beyond gratifying. “I am happy we are having these events. I didn’t realize how much I missed my classmates.” Hearing comments like this makes all the planning worthwhile.
If you’ve missed the few Meet and Greets we have had, don’t worry about it, we are planning to continue having them every month. Come join and see for yourself how pleasant it is to just catch up and work with us toward the great cause of raising funds for scholarships or giving back to our Alma Matter in another way.
Some of us might not recognize each other at the beginning. We might have to dig deep into our brain cells to remember each other, but isn’t that part of the fun?
Join us in our next meet and greet, sing happy birthday and have some cake. Like I said before, we are always celebrating.
