Recently I experience a hypertensive episode which ultimately resulted in my doctor placing me on prescribed medication to normalize my blood pressure.
Several years ago, I had a similar scenario and was taking medication for a while but decided that I wanted to attempt managing my blood pressure naturally. I started juicing, drinking and doing other home remedies. My blood pressure was usually high normal, so that the least increase in my stress level or weight, my blood pressure would spike. I finally realized that the best way to attempt weaning off medication and achieving and maintaining normal blood pressure, was to do so safely and decrease the risk of a hypertensive stroke or aneurysm.
First, I had do get out of denial and admit that I have hypertension. Next I had to commit to a treatment plan and formulate a lifestyle change, which include a change in diet and exercise. In time, I may be able to wean my medication but to do so safely under the guidance of my healthcare provider.
