Central, as we so affectionately refer to our Alma Mater, conjure up thoughts of anticipation.

We remember entering Central High School (CHS) in the ninth grade with a bit of apprehension.  Back then, the school was known for some bad events, such as girls were being assaulted behind the green tank, having to defend yourself by being forced to fight off some bully, or even trying not to make eye contact with the drug dealers and/or high school drop outs, who hung around outside the school entrance gates.

After surviving three years at central, our apprehension shifted to anticipation, and for some a bit of desperation to complete our senior year and focus on graduating and going to college to make a more positive difference in the world!

Once in college, we became even more proud of our Alma Mater than ever!  It was clear our high school teachers really did prepare us well for college; at least enough to give us the discipline we needed to persevere to graduation, which was gratifying but not as exciting as graduating from CHS.

Unbelievable, but the fast approaching 40th year reunion is building so much excitement of reconnecting with classmates we have thought of frequently but have not seen for decades!  There’s that growing anticipation of whether many of us are going to remember and/or recognize our classmates after so many years!  The mini events happening in various states around the country leading up to the official reunion day are equally as exciting and a great way to start the reconnection process!

The years have flown, but the spirit burning within us to make a more positive difference in the world has not left us.  79ers, we are on the move with reunion anticipation!
