The arguments for and against the resurrection of Jesus the Christ has persisted throughout the history of Christianity. I remember reading books by Josh McDowell who delineated some of these arguments in a style that was very easy to follow. His efforts at a defense of this foundational Christian doctrine were engaging and commendable. As believers in a risen Savior, it would do us well to familiarize ourselves with views for and against the resurrection of our

Lord. We are to be ready to give a reason for the hope that we have (1 Peter 3:15).

There is one argument for the resurrection that is very powerful and effective if presented properly (“…with humility and reverence”). The following poem can remind us to employ this powerful argument as opportunities arise for us to testify about our resurrected Lord.

The Gospel According to You

 By Jacob Kuruvilla, Kochi

There is a wonderful story written in times long ago:
We call it, THE GOSPEL according to Mathew, Mark, Luke and John.

The Gospels were written to show us
God’s power and love so divine.
God wants now the story rewritten,
Retold in your life and in mine.

We read and admire the Gospels, so loving, inspiring, true:
But what do they say of the Gospel,
The Gospel… according to YOU?

For mind, you are writing a Gospel, a chapter a day.
You write it through all your doings,
You write it through all that you say.

Good Lord! You are writing a Gospel!
Take care the writing be true:
For many , it will be ” the only Gospel”
THE GOSPEL “ACCORDING TO YOU” ! (Adapted)

Those who name the name of Christ are to be the best “evidence” of the resurrection. We are not perfect…yet (smile). He can and will enable us to evidence this change that He has made in our lives as we yield more and more to the awesome power at work in us. May God enable us as we look to Him to effectively shine resurrection light in a world filled with darkness.
