Celebration of Life

By Caroline Fawkes

On September 5, 2018, we witness the celebration of life for our beloved classmate, Michelle Greene.  Many family, friends, and co-workers filled the Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church in Frederiksted.  The service began with a robust singing of “He Lives”, followed by a wonderful tribute from Rhea Dowling, one of her special friends.  Her uncle, Thomas “Zabu” Brinkley gave the eulogy, highlighting Michelle’s migration to St. Croix from New York.  “She always was a determined person”.   Michelle’s love of sports and theater led her to play basketball, softball and perform with the St. Croix Community Theater.  Approximately twenty-five CHS class of 1979 members paid tribute by rendering a special song, “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms”.  The most touching moment came when her oldest daughter, Amaris Chew, was able to fulfill her mother’s wish and sing through her tears, this spirit fill song “Alabaster Box”.  Pastor Philbert encouraged us all to live a life on Earth that guarantees us a life when Jesus comes.  Michelle departed this earth on August 11, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. May her soul rest in peace.
